Got my papers!

Well, it's been a good while since we last talked, and I hope things are going well with you and yours.  Robyn and I are settling into summer and looking at a long list of shows.  Check out the 'shows' tab to see for yourself.

A couple of years ago, at the ripe old age of 45, I decided I'd go back to school.  I'm sure some people thought I was crazy and I might well have been.  It was a scary thought; taking a music program at that age isn't your typical course of action, but I stuck it out and am proud to say I earned a diploma in Music Arts from NSCC in Sydney.  It was a lot of driving and a lot of second-guessing myself, but mostly it was a lot of fun.  I was able to meet great people and have great experiences, and really isn't that what life is all about?

I think that too often we box ourselves in and tell ourselves that this is our only choice.  Of course, there are bills to pay, and I'm not oblivious to that.  A person needs to make a living. All I'm saying is that we owe it to ourselves to do something that serves our soul once in a while.  I took that gamble and I've spent the last two years immersed in music. Writing, recording, rehearsing, traveling, and arranging have all become the norm for me.  Living the dream is what we call it in Cape Breton. I strongly urge you to take a stab at yours.

Of course, a fella in my position needs great support at home, and Robyn is the best anyone could ask for.  She's the definition of unflinching, selfless support, and there's no way I could do this without her.

So I advise you to find your passion, find your Robyn, and chase it down as far as you can.  I feel blessed to be able to take this journey, and I'm glad you're following along!

-Steve.
